Elver Paddles

Below are a selected few images of my paddles. Pretty Bling!

These three paddles are versions of the Tour and Storm. The top blade is a shouldered version of the Tour, the middle is my standard smooth shouldered Tour, and the bottom is my Storm paddle.

The Storm - About 1.8m, robust, and fits on the foredeck.

The Tour - 2.22m, robust yet lightweight, and great for touring / all day paddling.

Four of my paddles, The Tour with no shoulders, a small version of the Tour: no shoulders again, a shouldered paddle, and a Storm paddle. Many custom Greenland paddle designs are available. Check out http://www.elverpaddles.com for details.

Elver Paddles SIte up and running.

After a lot of one off paddle making I've finally decided to launch Elver Paddles on the web. This follows significant interest in Greenland paddles here recently, and will allow people a portal to contact me re custom paddle making in Australia.

The site has info about the Custom Greenland Paddles I make. I think I am the first commercial greenland paddle make in Austrlaia - so head over to Elver Paddles to check out whats on offer.

Check out Elverpaddles.com!!

dragon babies!

eastern water dragons apparently think a pile of blue metal dust makes a great spot to lay eggs! unfortunately the pile they chose had to be spread out under the house leaving a couple of clutches in want of a new nest.. we obliged with some dust in a styrofoam box, kept warm in the sun and under a lamp, and were soon the proud surrogate parents of some very cute baby water dragons!! they all made it back out into the garden healthy and unharmed (although one had a little adventure around the laundry first!) and we can only hope that they remain so... very special!

life in the garden..

some wierd and wonderful critters in the garden.... and a beautiful little green thumb in the making!!

lismore floods - jan 08

engulfed in the blissful sunny world of bawley pt and family over christmas, we were only vaguely aware that it had been raining constantly in our home town of lismore, over a 1000kms to the north, the whole time. so it came as a bit of a shock when i received an alert sms from lismore city council informing me that there was minor flooding expected the day before we were due to drive home! needless to say we hot-tailed it out of there for a very quick overnighter, the expected flood levels rising with each new alert! we arrived home to fabulous, if dirty brown, water views, the only kind which de-value a property!! we managed to get anything valuable to us upstairs and out of harm's way quickly so we could then just sit back and watch the show! and what a show - the little creek next to the house backed up and filled half the yard, the wetland across the road became a vast, brown swirling sea, and the rain just kept falling!! tom paddled the kayak out from the side of the road, across the floodwaters and back into our garden! ella even had a little immunizing splash in our new backyard "pond"! eventually the rain eased, the waters subsided and we were treated to the charming stench of rotting vegetation for the following week! we had survived unscathed...this time! ahhh, life in a foodplain town!! k

a very bawley christmas!

we were lucky enough to spend ella's first christmas down at glorious bawley point with loads of family. she had such a fun time and all the cousins adored, and were great, with her. thankfully she didn't even get too spoiled - only with love, which you can never have too much of! we went for a couple of swims everyday, enhancing our beautiful girl's already existing love of the water, and managed lots of adventures on land too! a fab time had by all....

our little adventure bee!

we took our little miss bee car camping for the first time a couple of weeks ago. we manged to set up a comfy bed for her on the front passenger seat which she obviously found eminently suitable sleeping the whole night through! she laughed and squealed with delight the following day as we explored the area and and then we all jumped in the wooli river for a swim - one of her favourite things to do! our beautiful water baby.... there's also a couple of gratuitous shots of our gorgeous girl, just because she's gorgeous!! oh and she has 2 teeth through! k

lismore storm

maybe you heard about the wicked hail storm that hit lismore and surrounds last month? hailstones the size of golf balls, 90km/hr wind gusts and a deluge that lasted a deafening 20mins or more!! the event was declared a natural disaster (tho i think we got off lightly compared to the tsunami victims, cyclone katrina etc!). our little slice of paradise did not escape the carnage - the garden looked like a giant lawnmower had ravaged it, a window was shattered, the roof pummelled and various other casualties...and this was nothing compared to some other houses in the neighbourhood! ella and i took refuge in the bathroom, as far away from the perilous gum trees on the southern side of the house as possible! very exciting really! i've included a before picture of the vegie patch, eerily taken just the day before the storm.. k

Nearly 3 months old.

Ella's getting bigger and bigger every day. These photos are of a pancake brekky on the verandah. (And there is one from the pub outing to brunswick heads. About the only photo of all 3 of us I think.)
